Travel by boat to the town of Soufriere and onwards by coach to the historic community of Fond Gens Libre (Village of the Free People), where one can experience the rustic aura of St. Lucia’s country life. Enjoy a two mile climb from the base to the summit of Gros Piton. The trail starts off with relative ease gradually winding around the mountain at an increasing steepness. The trail is alive with natural, cultural and historical charm. The arduous yet exciting life of the Brigands is brought to life with the aid of tales and legends recounted by the guide. The climbing intensifies and flat areas quickly become few and far between until you finally get to the top. You will then be amazed at the sight before you - Petit Piton, its twin peak, rising majestically out of the blue waters, and neighboring islands of St Vincent, Martinique and the awesomely beautiful landscape of St. Lucia.
